Fun family shoot--Sneak Peek

Here we are at the IMA, if possible the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art are even more beautiful than last weekend!  *Sigh*  I love Spring.  And what a fun group, three sisters and their significant others and kids.  Fun!

Of course, the Big Kids were there, too.

My life, my work has always been about family, first as a daughter, a sister, a grandchild—those roles shaped the way I viewed the work, home and abroad. In the unfamiliar and therefore exotic, I have found my own reflection, created and discovered my histories; I have seen other families and dynamics and come to see my own family and history in a new way. Now, all is changed, shaped by this ferocious tiger-love that is motherhood. I see my day to day as though an anthropologist observing a unique tribe of strange, little creatures whose language eludes me, whose actions are pure instinct and whose lives are mine to protect and bear witness to.


When I travel now it is with their sticky fingers entwined in mine, or even, when I travel without them, I awaken in the night certain I have heard the baby crying for his milk, although he is far away. Their births have changed how I look through the camera, what I photograph and why. They have become part of the landscape that I photograph, part of the exotic and unfamiliar so that each new destination becomes part of our family, part of our history.

Is there anything nicer than an intimate early Spring Wedding?  Made even more fabulous by being held outside at the Indianapolis Art Center among banks of daffodils and a lovely dinner at the Jazz Kitchen...

Laura was just about the most mellow bride, ever!

The weather was touch and go throughout the day...but around four o'clock it cleared to a perfect April day.

The ceremony was sweet and sincere.

Parker's First Birthday-Sneek Peek

Today was the celebration of Parker's First birthday . 

 For some of his party he was in his Hanbok, his traditional dress.

 Part of the Dol is a ritual where the child is placed in front of a table of foods and objects such as string, books, sword and money. The child is then urged to pick up an object from the table, where it is believed the one selected will foretell the child's future. For example, if the child picks up a brush or book, he is destined to be a scholar. If he picks up money or rice, he will be wealthy; cakes or other food, a government official; a sword or bow, a military commander. If the child picks up the thread, it is believed he will live a long life.

Parker will have a long and happy life.

After that fun, Parker moved on to the cake stage, his smash cake was an adorable and yummy concoction...

He had so much fun with it.
